Georgia & Florida
From Beaufort, South Carolina we went off-shore to Hilton Head where we spent several days on a dock at the upscale community of Wexford, South Carolina. We biked all over Hilton Head Beach and hiked the beautiful beaches.
From Wexford we went inside (via ICW) to Cumberland Island, Georgia where we anchored in the National Park and saw lots of wild horses and one armadillo. We really like Cumberland, and had great days biking, running, and beach combing.
The weather got rough so we were forced to move inland, up the St. Mary’s River, where we anchored off the town of St. Mary’s, Georgia where we spent several very rainy windy days in St. Mary’s until the weather improved and we could move south, across the state line into Florida.
We spent one night in the Florida marsh, then continued a short way into St. Augustine, Florida. Tides have been tremendous and there is lots of flooding, but the birds are plentiful and beautiful. We are in St. Augustine now-with its fabulous Spanish architecture. We're looking at lots of options for our path forward. 'Hard to believe it’s almost Thanksgiving, and winter is coming.
